Apple Paper Painting

It's almost done! I worked on the paper collageing this weekend. I was so very hesitant to begin because I didnt have the papers I wanted. I borrowed some and piece mealed it together in order to come up with a good start. I have a smidge more to do...but I am leaving a bit more paint exposed than other artists may choose in their collage.

When I arrived home, my husband said I ruined it. He liked it better before hand. I liked it better after and from a distance. LOL I loved how the colors came together and how I used alot of my classroom left over dittos as part of the painting! (I painted the dittos.)

This afternoon I sorted about 3,000 stamps and went through some of my ephemera for future use! I also gathered together a few things that Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson
will need to add to her upcoming pieces.

I am attending another workshop next month in paper painting with Elizabeth!

I am biting at the bit to get my gnome started...but with Jay being potty trained this weekend, it is getting in the way of me doing much of anything! Joys of motherhood!

Painting with paper...

I do not consider myself an artist...clever maybe...but never an artist! I have never had any formal lessons in art other than the accepted public education art classes. So with that said, please refrain from any criticism of my work as if I am trying to be something I am not...consider this your formal acknowledgment I am not an artist.

With that being said...I am an artist! You see art is what you make it and how it makes you feel...and this makes me feel good. Not because I consider it a masterpiece, but I consider it a cool start! I have found my niche at the moment for my own style of painting....although Jayda told me, "People would pay money for that if they had any!" She thought like 100 dollars...

I asked my son how much he thought I paid for this when I bought it. He said twenty five dollars. Then I told him I painted it. He liked that I created it.

My youngest son, who is 2, thought it was very "pritly." He knew it was an apple. For that alone, I consider it art!

I am taking an art class with Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson this Saturday. It is a paper paintings course...in which she will teach us how to artistically add paper to our paintings. Many times people become attached to their paintings and can not put paper over what they painted. I understand this! If it weren't for this next painting...I don't know if I could stand it...but I do not think it is going to be a fluke so I will paper piece it!

It is going to be from this sketch...he is going to be surrounded by tall grass!

I was going to sketch him on the board I am painting but I do not think I want to go that route. I am also kind of at a stand still...I want his mustache and beard to kind of come out of the painting a tickle your cheek when you get close. I do not know how to do that...or the notion hasn't taken me yet. The painting is going to be called "Caught Looking". I like that name because...is the gnome looking at you or are you looking at him???? I love gnomes!

Digital Chaos!

I am getting more acquainted with Photoshop Elements the basics. I am finding myself looking for different things I can do than just the basics. But I have also been driven to complete the layouts. It is so much easier, faster, and less cluttered to be doing digital. However, I have found myself very "lazy" today. Groceries are purchased for the week. So, the day was not a total loss! :o) It was dreary, rainy and chilly out there today! I made a delicious chicken and fresh spinach salad for dinner. MMMM... yet, doesn't quite compare to the one I had at Applebee's with my mother on Saturday.
Without further ado...hey wait a minute!!! I had to upgrade my storage! I have reached my max storage on Picassa! I couldn't put on any more pics on my blogs. I sat here and thought and thought...do I shut it down, do I quietly disappear into the blogosphere...or do I pay 5 dollars a year for 20 G storage. I went ahead and paid 5 bucks to keep you entertained and inspired!?!
You'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the new stuff!

Yes, it is yet another fun activity I have picked up to keep my hands busy! I love this one, because I can be close to my family while they relax and I can enjoy doing something I like to do to relax also! My husband ticks each activity off to remind me how many different outlets I have...scrapbooking, jewelery making, digital scrapbooking, and now embroidery!

I knew I wanted my first project to be an owl...and here it is! Oh, and by the way...it is redwork! I love that style mixed with this funky patterned fabric.

I am self taught with help from some really effective websites that teach you how to do the stitches. I am just a beginner, but we all have to start somewhere!
This project is going to be on my desk at school in August!
Yesterday on the way to Jayda's girl scout activity, I stopped at a garage sale and she was selling a ton of art supplies. I bought 4 stretched canvases for a quarter a piece. This is what I placed my project on!

I have started another...it is a jelly fish and I am unsure how I actually want it to look. The outline is down but it needs more.

I am still actively digital scrapping and having such fun with that. I am designing for Amy Sumrall and find I am using her things pretty much exclusively. It is just so adaptable that I can use it for so many things! It is definitely my go to file on my PC!

Here is the latest layout I completed for The SIDELINES over at the Digi Scrap Addict "Battle of the Creative Teams 2009"! I am not participating in the actual challenge but I am playing on the "sidelines" and cheering them on! This week's challenge was to use white space and a similar theme.

Our Amy Sumrall Team have their layouts on page 9 and 10! I give our team an A+ for creativity! They posted their layouts one right after the other so that each of them were placed in the order of the rainbow...which is our theme this week...rainbow!

Oooops, sorry, the links are all gone...how sad is that??? Well, I do not think there is anyone involved in digi scrapping who did not know about that contest! I am sure you were lucky enough to have yours already!

These are your first shoes that are not Stride Rite! And guess what....you love these! They are your favorite pair of shoes. The funniest thing is watching you watch them! The eyes are what makes these shoes and I love watching you bend over and poke them in the eyes. I don't know why, it makes me laugh! I guess I try and imagine what your little mind is thinking about the shoes that have eyes!

Digi scrapping...not quite as messy as traditional scrapping...but equally fun! I enjoy putting together the pretty papers, and fun embellishments...AND I never run out of letter e's or j's or s's!

I began working this morning with The May Collab Kit called Fresh Greens at Digi Scrap Designs! These girls came up with an amazing collab kit this month...WOWZERS! Check it out here!
I only was able to complete two...I love everything about these kits! The papers, and elements and the adorable alpha give me so much to create with I can't see an end to the possibilities!

I finally had a few minutes of down time to create something for you and me...er...for baby Jay...although he is not much of a baby anymore!

Can you believe I even had time to help Jacob with his science project???
I actually got my mother's 1970's sewing machine to work...THAT BABY IS AWESOME! We had to make a European Squid. I sewed...he painted!

I am so going to be pulling that baby out to sew more things! I LOVE IT! I will photograph it and tell you all about this old puppy one of these days!

Busy-ness!

I can not believe how my life has gone from 2 mph to 100 mph in such a short time! I have such little time to create any more, and when I do it is digital or jewelery!
I did just finish three cards, so that was fun! Plus I finished my spring ATCs...a little late. But they are done and on their way!
Tuesday my mother and I went out to shop and get lunch. But, when I went to park, my car would not go in reverse. it had been clunking into reverse for some time now. So we came home. I owe you a day out mother!
Tuesday afternoon we went and looked at a Camry and it was so so. Wednesday morning we went out and looked at a honda and I loved it! Interestingly enough, we had started researching cars two weeks ago and decided we would buy in December when the buying was good. Needless, to say the irony of it all had us buying it Wednesday! So that was fun!
Honda Accord LX-P 2009 with only 33 miles on it. I should have known when I got in it to test drive it and it said 33 miles it was mine! The three's have it! If I think back a few years 33 was an extremely enjoyable year for me as well! But today...this day...right now where I am at is the best ever! And not because of this great new car either!

Then there has been the fun of creating digital layouts...for NLP Designs and Veelana

My latest jewelery set is created using New Jade and Natural Turquois along with sterling silver and silver plated findings. I love the jade color and look forward to sporting this in the fall as I head back to teaching Kindergarten. Yes, you heard me correctly. I need to venture back into teaching in order to secure my position in this ever changing trying economy....for my future and my family.

Well, for now that is it...

This afternoon Jay scraped his face somehow and on something which I have no clue. He did not do the "OW OW OW OW OW OW" that he has come to know and love for ANY bump! So I can not tell from where this came from...as I write now, it is a very faint scratch and barely noticeable. Thanks to the aquaphor which immediately begins to heal your skin. Love that stuff!!!

Had a ball at the flea market and it was one of the most delightful days there so far! Full of garage saley vintagey things(rather than antique dealers asking an arm and a leg!) that was pure delight to the eyes!

OK, life is just way to busy and fun right now.
Well, you know...there are things that are definitely not so fun going on...
*like having to file paperwork with the courts in regards to modifying child support.
*like having to do some major spring cleaning and hating it.
*like having to be here or be there.
*like having to run out to the court house for the third day in a row.
*like having a dentist appointment.
*like missing out on having dinner with my teacher friends Monday night because I had to take Jacob to practice and Michael worked all day.
*like getting a speeding ticket.

Everyone has things like this they have to deal with....
But how lucky am I???
*I get to be with Jay and see him grow and change every day!
*I am able to help out with Jayda's class and be part of both her and Jacob's education!
* I get to celebrate a dear dear dear friend of mine's upcoming wedding at a bachelorette party in May! She is 59 I think and marrying a wonderful man! daddy's babysitting!
*I have an amazingly, wonderful, supportive husband who I expect to be perfect 100 % of the time...and well...he's near close!
*My dentist appointment went smoothly! She said Everything looks great! No cavities! That's always an exciting thing to hear for me! hahahaha See a post somewhere in the past when I ranted about how I dreaded the dentist as a child!!(Who happened to have an office just over the candy store!?! WTH???)
* I get to go on the St. Augustine field trip as a chaperone for my daughter and to Sea World as a chaperone for my son!!
*The weather is in the 80's and staying that way all week here!
*We are going out in the boat this weekend and taking a friend of Jayda's.
*Jacob is old enough to mow the lawn and Jayda is old enough to do the laundry!
*I have the sweetest in laws!
*I have the best parents!
*I love my family!
and on and on and on and on and on....
WHAT??????? You are wondering why I glazed over the part about a speeding ticket huh????
Yeah, you heard me. A speeding ticket. I haven't had a speeding ticket since 1993. I was coming back from beach and it went from 50 mph to a 35 mph and I wasn't familiar with that part of town. However, this time, I was driving 37 miles per hour and got a speeding ticket! It was a 30 mph zone...where up ahead they would be doing construction...oops! It could have been a 391.00 fine but he let me off the hook for only 151.00. Hmmmm, thanks??

Anyways, it feels good to let you all know I got a speeding ticket. I am not so mortified or embarrassed by it now...the truth really does set you free. haha

Okay...how awesome is the picture in this layout?

I have no idea where it was taken but it was my grandmother sitting in a building with my grandfather outside taking a photo of her having her portrait made. Where is this portrait Mother???? How perfect was this photo taken? He was an amazing photographer! I used lotsa sass and other stuff. Truth be told I do not like the way it turned out...but it is what it is and the words are what matter the most to me!!!

I made this during Jays naptime! Truth...I got this embellishment for scrapbooking but it became a necklace and bracelet combo!

Ok, so here's the story.
My parents 33rd anniversary was yesterday. Exactly a week after mine!
Well, the day comes and goes and it had slipped my mind...like I had thought about it a hundred times this past week...but the day of...drew a blank!
So, it is Friday evening and I am working on this weeks challenge layout.

I finish and I am thinking of the date of their anniversary and the light bulb goes on!
I stood straight up out of my seat and bellowed...OH MY GOSH!!!!
I totally forgot my parents anniversary!
I looked at the clock 1030 pm YIKES!!!
I was sick to my stomach...like I felt like vomiting!
I knew they had gone to the dance at their clubhouse. But was it an early or late dance? UGH couldn't rem. Called their house...no one home.
Called moms cell. No one answers. Were they mad at me and not answering????????
So I took my page and the card I made and I headed out to their house...its 11 pm by now. They live 5 minutes from us....but decide to drive up by the clubhouse as I recalled it was a later dance and was just about over. I knew my mother was in charge of clean up after the dance on her committee. So I walk in my mom had her back to me and I just hug her and told her I am sorry I forgot her anniversary and then this made me cry...and then she cried. Then I showed her the page and the card and told them the story and they laughed! I made it in the 11th hour! They were so happy to see me and told me I made their day....can you believe the other three children did not even rem it? So I am still the favorite child. hahahahah

The first one, I followed a pattern from the Bead and Button magazine, albeit changed up a bit to use what I have.
I like the "sewing" aspect of this pattern, but it took a while to create. An afternoon is all. So not bad!
As usual...click on pictures to make them full size! And of course, you will see a mistake I made in this first bracelet!

This next bracelet was created using sponge coral(small round circles), Mexican oysters(larger beads), and vintage crystals from an old necklace of my grandmothers. I love these beads!

Jewlery Lady who Scraps

I have loved learning about making jewelery! I love beads...their colors, the shininess, the ability to create beautiful things with them!!!
This was the second bracelet I made. I used tigers eye and some lamp work beads I got at the bead show with my mother a few weeks back!
This next baby took me a bit of time! I created the bracelet using jump rings. Then I attached turquoise, red, and silver beads in different ways to showcase the colors and silver workings. If you look closely at the photo below...you will see where I created a J with silver findings and attached it as my "signature"! It took me about 5 hours to complete this.

Not to push aside my first love...scrap booking. I created this layout for the Tuesday Font Challenge at All Moments Remembered. This weeks challenge is to use a movie quote as your title. This picture was taken of our first dance together at our beach house wedding reception in 2007. This quote is "We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on, we go home happy." From the Disney Hercules movie.

Do you love candles???
I absolutely adore them!
Unfortunately, this weekend they are getting used more than usual...Jay has been sick and well...let's just say his diapers can bring tears to your eyes!

What wonderful luck for me...as part of my responsibilities as a Buzz Agent, I received a wonderful new candle in the mail from The Fragrance Collection by Glade.
Can you smell it????

This candle is a soy based candle called currants and acai. I love the rich color of the candle and the smell is so nice. It is not a normal flavor I would have chosen for my house, but I truly do enjoy it! The smells of these particular candles are EXTREMELY fresh! My favorite may just well be the lotus bamboo flavor! So fresh and springy!

You can find these delightful candles in a variety of stores. I found mine in the local walmart! They are a high quality candle for a very good price. These are candles I feel safe using in my home. Not to mention, they really freshen the air....and goodness knows with Jay around...we sure do need it! :o)

What is a Buzz Agent? I receive products in the mail that I must try and then tell you all about! I suppose you could say I "buzz" about it! I have been part of this program for a few months now and I am truly enjoying the benefits of all that it has to offer. Plus, it keeps me in the loop of the newest and coolest products out on the market today!

Better Together!

I have spent the better part of the day creating this lovely for my DH on our second anniversary March 20th. Yeah...I know I should have had this done days ago...but late last night as I lay in bed and thought about our anniversary...I thought how much better we are together!!! Thus the title of the mini that follows along with Jack Johnson's lyrics to said song! So, either I feel bad about finishing it the day of...or celebrate the creativity that came to me! The old green cover was from a 1943 girl scout song book.

My own BFF

This layout was inspired by the challenge I had to complete for Scapping Across the Universe. #11 challenge is to scrap about your BFF. I had this picture since 2002. At the time, I loved this picture of me. I have to fight my usual M.O. of making fun of me. But, I thought back to this time...I was a single mother...no family in Florida and on my own. It inspired the journaling, title and speech bubbles!

I used all things I have received in RAKs lately.

Then this weekend, my inlaws gated community had a community garage sale. I found these amazing vintage cards...some dating back to the 30s and 40s through the 70s. FUN STUFF!!! We are talking 4 dollars for everything!....oh there's tons in the bag and plastic tub.
Buttons....another awesome find at the flea market wednesday!!! LOVE these. We have found buttons that are from military that have a value of 50 dollars a piece! I guess the 20.00 tub will pay for itself and then some. FUN!
Yesterday, my mother and I went to a bead show! I so love beads!!! Here are a few I have arranged in a cute little picture....I will be creating jewlery...just as soon as I get the hang of it....LOL!
There is an amazing fabric store in my town. I just found it last week. They have bolts of every bit of their fabric and I am in love with the bolt end caps. They do call them bolts don't they? If not...let me know!

Yeah, that is it!
You use this proverb to say that it is better to spend a little time to deal with problems or act right now than wait.
Talk about spending a little time!!!!

When I played volleyball in college, there was a player on the team named Marla. She was sweet as anything and had a voice like an angel. She sang for us as we traveled cross country and she even sang the national anthem before every home game.
She would often sing The Rose as we all loved hearing it. Somehow, I never listened to the words. Today, as i completed this challenge I listened to the words. Funny how such a beautiful song can have such sad words.

But then it reminded me of a time, when I was young, immature, and so unworldly. I didn't know what love was or how to give love. But I was surrounded by a loving family. I loved my grandmother more than my own parents(and don't get me wrong I love my parents a ton) but it just wasn't like the love I had for my grandmother. She was my everything...and then she died when I was 11. I was so completely devastated by that. I guess because I saw her as loving me unconditionally more than anyone else. When she was gone, I think a big part of me was gone too. Leaving me empty hearted.
I love this song more today than I did back in college.

Oh goodness, I won't ever forget the day I took this photo...I swear I shot about 50 just to get this one....You were all over the place, but that is what your 10 month is all about. You started walking at 9 1/2 months so needless to say you were quite wobbly still! You were crawling on everything and climbing on whatever you could. I have a sequence of photos that has you crawling up, standing up, bending down to sit and then the next shot you are gone from the photo...you had tipped over and fell out of the cameras eye! Made me laugh out loud!

Keeping Track

It seems as though I have become a creating fanatic!
I am so loving the creative flow in my scrap area....and it got me to thinking...
just how many things have I created??? It never mattered before, doesn't truly matter now...because it is not a race! Afterall, my motto is:
Complete not Compete!
I enjoy the process and have found a certain speed at which I work. I do not second guess myself and each piece becomes it's own entity. I do not fret about the layout. The reason I do not fret about it...I have 4 big boxes of photos, 8 photo boxes full, random packages of recent photos, and let's not even begin to think about my DH's stuff! Like I said, I have enough photos to scrap well into 2348 AD!!!!

But, I digress.....

This layout was created for a challenge at All Moments Remembered. I saw this fabulous picture that was stunning using these colors and feathers...I couldn't resist using it for this inspiration!

Interrupting this creative announcement to inform you I am a cruel mother. Poor guy crawled under the table to get his ball that rolled under there...got stuck and could not figure out how to get out. I did the only thing any loving mother does...and ran and got my camera!
My mother gave me many many photos from my grandparents attic and her house. I am so excited to have thes ein my possession as I have so few pics of me as a child!!! Well, last night I began working on some of the ones of me! This one had me roughly around ten months old. In my brothers, hand me down sleeper. We were at my grandfather's house in the backyard. I love studying the stroller and it's many safety features???!!!! How did we survive as children???? Hahahahahahaha

Krafty Creations

It would seem that evening time has become my creative time. Michael is off in dream land, children are in bed, the house is quiet and I begin! It has been going on the last few nights. My husband may begin to think I am having an affair in my living room, with my scissors and photos. He doesn't seem to mind and I am in my glory!

After a long day with Jay, I have little time to create. By the end of the day, between trips to school, baseball practices, girl scouts, and Jay I am BEAT and drained of all goodness. hahaha Somehow, crafting allows me to fill right back up making me so happy. Or is it that glass of wine??? Well, neither here nor there!

I have been using a lot of Kraft paper lately...and loving it!

The first one has Jay fiddling around with a pacifier. He would bite it and pull on it, but then toss it aside as if it were yesterdays news! I wished he would have taken one...it would have freed me up some. Looking back...I wouldn't trade his need for the comfort of his mother FOR ANYTHING!!!!

This next layout was created when I was scrounging around for some photos from college to post on face book for my college friends! What???? You want to see the photos I am talking about????
Obviously, I am on the left....Obviously, big hair is in...it is after all the early 90's-1991 to be exact...and what would we have done without AUSSIE SPRUNCH SPRAY!?

These photos cracked me up from 1991! They were taken in my childhood home(which as of last year has sold), during a winter break or something from college. I had an awful outfit on...white striped shirt tucked in and bright blue pants(looking pregnant???). Standing next to some rockin' macrame' compliments of my mothers crafty-ness. Posing??? WTH!?! I mean seriously...WHAT THE H-E-(double hockey sticks)!!!!!! Thus the title!
Used a kit that I won as a RAK from LaVerne's blog on both of these layouts! Thanks lady...loving that kit so so so so much! Oh and that monkey up there is a glitz rub on by the way....cute monkey!

Scrapping Across the Universe Challenge #9!

I am addicted to challenges and have completed more layouts than I can even keep track of!
The new challenge is up at Scrapping Across the Universe and it is awesome!
I love this challenge blog because it offers you the chance to reminisce and record things you may have otherwise allowed to go by the wayside. I used purple on this layout based on the purple in my dress. I do not like working with purple much but the paint matched the mm patterned paper paint that it worked out perfect! This layout is for a challenge at noel mignon's website! It comes from inspiration from this cool website Curly Girl Designs...check out the cards.

This layout was completed for the font challenge at All Moments Remembered! The journaling was put on the back!

Of course, I wasn't thrilled with it so I painted some letters and came up with this one. I loved the tree...most of you all put apples in your trees. Well, here in FLORIDA we have oranges in our trees!

I am working in 8.5 x 11 to complete some layouts of old photos from my childhood and beyond. This was of my brother Bryan and I. I used Cosmo Cricket, Mr. Campy.

I used the technique shown on this blog to create the roses on this page! I used mostly things from the Shop Crop Suey Kit created by Camille! This photo was taken by my parents shortly after Michael asked me to marry him at the spot where we first met...of course he had already asked my father for his blessing! I so love this man!

Jay's First Year Mini Album

I have been thinking for some time about getting this project completed! I just wanted to have something handy to quickly browse through when I needed to remember my little guy! I used to refer to him as Baby Jay and now it is Toddler Jay...happened too fast! Before long I will be calling him Big Boy Jay! LOL

I had a ball creating this! In fact, I finally was able to use those super size playing cards for this mini!

The front cover was created with a card, a baby print vellum, dymo, mini rick rack, and believe it or not...keys from my last laptop that I totally destroyed because it was so way past its prime. The ribbons were attached and I put some random buttons on the ends.

I had a cool picture of that last night...but there was a unfortunate event... my new computer bit the dust, like quit, not working, virus attacked its super center and sent it on its way to lost photos forever. You know the beauty of scrapbooking is I will never ever forget that computer because I used it's keys on this book!
I still am not ready to discuss the loss of all my digital scrapbooking pages...thank goodness I printed off 15 of them last week!

Macrame`, a Bracelet, and Sequins

I can not begin to tell you the joy I feel when I look into the boxes of pictures my mother gave to me from my growing up years and before! I have pictures to keep me scrapping until sometime in the year 2145 AD!!! I love every one of them too! When I saw this picture, I first laughed out loud...then I looked closer and fell in love with my mother's clogs, and her seriousness about her macrame` gift she gave my grandparents (her parents)! Then, I couldn't wait to get this one scrapped and into the album! I created this layout on an 8.5 x 11 kraft paper, adding to it some old ribbon stash(yes, it is for the Use Your Stash Challenge blog!~Thanks jingle for the link!)
Iused some Sassafrass Lass from Bree's Shop Crop Suey Kit, random flowers, MM mini alphas, plastic embossed flowers, stickles, random flowers, and a few other yummies.

I did it...I made a bracelet....I have wanted to for a long time....but thought I couldn't do it. BUT I DID IT! ME!!! I made a bracelet...ME! I know, I am as surprised as you are that I made a bracelet! Phew...enough of that! I used turquois and brown beads with some silver as spacers.

Sequins???? Who uses sequins anymore? LOL This was completed for a challenge I was running over at All Moments Remembered. I loved this picture of my brother and I from the early 70's. What makes me crack up over this layout most of all is that he and I about drove my mother insane...we were so naughty and always into mischief!

I can't even remember the patterned paper I used for this. Oops!

Here is a card I made for a challenge...I am not a great card maker, but I wanted to make one for a dear friend of mine. I used October Afternoon!

This White background layout was completed for a challenge over at All Moments Remembered. I used all Basic Grey Boxer PP and some random ribbon and fibers along with thickers and my dymo. I have such a bad tendency of looking at photos of myself and making fun of me. I stepped back and looked at this photo with eyes that are 15 years older than when this photo was taken and I thought, lovely!

I so loved these two people! My Mother's Parents and my Grammy and Grampy are shown here. I believe this is their wedding photograph.
This was done for another challenge in which we could only use one word for the title and it could not be a noun.
I used The Scenic Route Kraft Wildflower, basic Grey Offbeat-casual, and thickers.

Now this here autograph book is phenomenal! It was from my grandparents attic. Most were written in 1932-1935.
The entries into this autograph book are written in the form of poems...an art long forgotten.

"My School Day Autobiography"

"Schoolday memories bring back,

Pleasant thoughts of happy hours,

Spent in work and play."

This was written by my grandfather to my grandmother:

"Dearest Lea,

I wish I was a bubble

in the soda that you sip.

I'd crawl right up the straw and

kiss you on the lip!" Duke 1934

By my Grandfather again:

"Dearest Lea,

I'm following you whereever you go,

I'm following you forever you know.

Duke" 1934

Then you will note that my mother as a child got a hold of this and wrote in it too!

("My dear father to my dear mother.")

"Dear Lea,
Out on the ocean there is a rock
and on it carved, Forget me Not.
Your Loving Daughter,
Debby"
She added: "Yours til the Boardwalks!"

My name is Jessica and you may know me better as jessicamae3. I am so excited to post the first challenge to All Moments Remembered Year Long Royal Challenge at the All Moments Remembered forum and message boards! We are going to be crowning 4 talented people at the end of the year at our annual anniversary crop! Monday's challenge: Color
*Complete a layout-any size
*Must use a solid black background
*Add color to make your page pop

Here is my example-I completed it in size 8.5 x 11! My first attempt at this size but I loved working with it!

(Product: white card stock, basic black card stock, mm paint, random ribbon, brads, buttons, thread, white signo pen, mm mini alphas, thickers)

Team Member's Tip: I used drops of paint on the paper and then laid another paper on top to smooth it out. I pulled the paper back and found that the paints had meshed together beautifully and created some texture on the background! You can find the exact paints I used in the All Moments Remembered Store! Gettin' Digi With It!

I have been working with my Christmas gift...Photo Shop Elements 7.0.

I am not the best digital scrapper, but I do have fun with it! It is most helpful as I capture photos from an old old PC with pictures of my children when they were younger...and I was skinnier! Hahaha
This was the first page I completed. It is for a gratitude journal I am keeping in line with the Gratitude Project...found here.

This was my second attempt...this is of a photo from my old computer of my husband's profile photo on eHarmony. I so loved his smile the minute I saw it!
This picture and layout captures a moment in time that I hope to never forget! My children and parents had a ball at the beach each summer. We would go for the day and had a blast each and every trip! Jayda was young and always said the cutest things! One of those sayings that has yet to die is...."Go Beach???"

UPDATE #1 -- CROP HOURS
Hey gals, this is going to be a BIG, FUN-FILLED crop to celebrate the 1 year Anniversary of the AMR Message Board -- but it's also a trial run of a "big crop" idea that Stacey and I wanted to do every 3 months or so, filling in with smaller more informal crops in the months in between. The schedule is designed to please our "late night girlz" as well as our "early bird girlz", the west coast, the east coast, and everyone in between!

I will be the Crop Host during most of the event, with Stacey and others filling in to Host the hours I can't do it. We will have some activities & AMR challenges posted during the most "awake" times for everyone -- and those activities and challenges (once posted) will be available for the rest of the crop so you won't feel like you'll miss anything! Post away if you have any questions!

Schedule (Pacific Time):
Friday -- 6pm -12am
Saturday -- 9am-9pm

4 Fun Classes -- will be sprinkled thru the schedule, and each Class will have a Challenge. You'll have until Thursday, Jan. 15 to submit your entry to the challenge post to be in the RAK drawing for that Class. I'll have a final schedule and Crop Supply List up this Friday, Dec. 19.

Member Challenges -- everyone loves this, so let's keep going! If you want to submit a challenge, you're welcome to run it by me first or just hold it until the Crop and post it in the Crop Forum. If there's anything really specific you think people need to know about beforehand, please send me a PM by Friday Dec. 19 and I'll include it in the Crop Supply List.

Crop Hours -- I picked these hours to appeal to both West Coast and East Coast croppers, the early birds and the late nighters -- a little something that fits somewhere in almost everyone's schedule! Whoever wants to come into the Crop Forum earlier than the scheduled hours, you're welcome to do so! There just won't be any scheduled activities or AMR Hosts ... but YOU can just jump in and be your own host and even post your own challenges or giveaways if you want to get the ball rolling! I think everyone loves it when we can be flexible and just hang loose, so have at it!

Samantha's Class: Black Soot Stamping technique -- YES! Sam is coming back! Some of you may have seen an example of this technique on her blog. She's going to take us step-by-step. I can't wait!

Important Crop Supply Note -- If you DON'T have the supplies and can't get them.... PLEASE DON'T SWEAT IT! Life is too short. Just jump right in and I'm sure between you, me, the class leader, and the other 500 women on this board we can think of all sorts of substitutions, LOL! "

Fifth Grade

Well, I have gotten through the years this week! I am finishing up the week with 5th grade.
I used a lot of Basic Grey Boxer on this layout! I also used some cardboard to add texture and dimension. Basic Grey rub on from a swap, along with kimberly poloson butterfly chipboard. I found this crochet butterfly at the flea market a while back. A tracey porter butterfly embellishment, again from a swap. Random stickles, fiber, and glaze pens. Lots of layering...

Fourth Grade

Hmmm, the pictures make me laugh and cringe all at the same time! Talk about being a caterpillar...
I have so enjoyed working with these. In fact, I loved finding the boxes of photos, ephemera and newspaper clippings. Everything is so in tact and complete. I am so glad I was a pack rat as a child! Report Cards, handwritten letters in my young scrawl, and tons of memories of who I was and what my life was like. My children will have something tangible and in order when I am but a distant memory.
Do you notice the necklace I am wearing in this photo? It was a heart and what looked like a crocked horn and supposedly it was good luck and i have no other knowledge of it than that it was popular! Another thing I rem out on the markey for the first time were those sandals that you could pop out the wheel on the bottom and make them into little skates.
Funny! Plus, i remember my first ever real live crush! It was Kevin McCluskey! I wrote him a note and said...will you go with me? Circle yes or no. He told me he was not allowed to have a girlfriend. hahahaha What was I thinking? I would kill my daughter if she wrote a letter like that to a boy in her class. Hahahahaha

Third Grade

Hard to believe I have completed Kindergarten through third grade already! How much fun it has been to wander through these years. The sad part is...I remember so little. Hmmmm....
I used Sass Lass papers from Brees Over the Rainbow kit...It is the kit that keeps on giving! Holy smokes is it useful and plentiful! I added to it some duct tape and thickers. plus some dymo to complete the look!

I worked for my grandfather...alot!!!!! With a few coins in my hand and a promise til I am better paid. I do not know what that means, because I was never better paid?????
Hmmm, all day work for two 5 gallon buckets full of dandelions from his yard. 50 cents richer at a quarter a bucket...I went on my way with a thank you and a "til your better paid".
Loved creating this layout, used Camille's Premier Kit at Shop Crop Suey! Along with my own thickers and dymo label maker!
